- Current system implicitly discriminatory
- No accommodations for employees who cannot marry
- Cannot request parental leave for partners, children raised jointly
- Not covered under tuition allocation for partners and kids
MU Faculty Council
- Resolved "Support [of] a change in System policy to extend long-term care insurance benefits to domestic partners" 9/29/05
- Heard K. Hutchinson, VP of HR, about the ability to follow through:
- “Definition of family defined by Board of Curators and doesn’t include DP”
- “Even though this would not cost the university any money…"
