About the Summit

The purposes of the 2008 MU Campus-wide Diversity Summit are two-fold:

  1. To reflect upon the progress made over the course of the past 2 years in advancing toward the objectives that would identify MU as a multicultural institution; and
  2. To identify specific, concrete action steps that must be taken to further our progress toward that goal over the next 3 years.

Procedure

Teams will be formed to address specific diversity issues and concerns. These issue-centered teams will meet in working groups prior to and on Sunday during the Summit to define problems, proper solutions, and strategy. Working groups will present their conclusions at the Town Hall meeting on Sunday night.

On Monday, working teams of administrators will address diversity issues from an institutional perspective.

Follow-up discussions will happen during the fall 2008 semester to implement action plans, assess progress toward goals and report back to various campus stakeholders and constituents on progress.
